Novena To Saint Abanoub (The Child Martyr)
Repeat the following Novena prayers every day for 9 consecutive days.
You are a wise child, O Abanoub of Nehisa,
because you are pure and chaste.
You are loved by the Master
for you abandoned the whole world,
in order to seek the heavens.
You carried your cross and gained your soul
when you were hung by your feet,
your head down the ship's pole (mast).
You did not move, your heart was full of strength.
You became a golden lampstand,
in the places of the faithful,
strong Saint Abanoub,
as you were tortured.
The people who saw you struggle,
and your firm faith,
confessed with a loud voice,
"Our God is Jesus the Blessed."
They took with you the unfading crown,
of martyrdom, through their upright faith
in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hail to you O martyr of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hail to the courageous hero, Abanoub of Nehisa.
Pray to the Lord on our behalf,
O struggle-mantled martyr, Abanoub of Nehisa,
that He may forgive us of our sins.
