Novena To Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom

Repeat the following Novena prayers every day for 9 consecutive days.

Blessed are you, holy Mary, wisest of virgins:
the Word of truth was cradled in your arms;
blessed are you, most prudent of virgins:
you have chosen the better part.

God of wisdom,
in your desire to restore us to your friendship
after we had lost it by sin,
you chose the Blessed Virgin Mary
as the seat of your Wisdom.
Grant through her intercession
that we may not seek the wisdom of the proud
but with humility treasure your revealed wisdom.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Prayer by Saint Thomas Aquinas

O Mary, Seat of Wisdom,
so many persons of common intellect
have made through your intercession
admirable progress in their studies.
I hereby choose you as my guardian
and patron of my studies.
I humbly ask you to obtain for me
the grace of the Holy Spirit,
so that from now on I can understand more quickly,
retain more readily,
and express myself more fluently.
May the example of my life
serve to honor you and your Son, Jesus.

Another prayer for students

Most holy Virgin,
you who are the Seat of Wisdom,
help me in my studies.

Open my mind that I may understand
and inscribe in my memory
what I am learning from my teachers.

Keep me calm during examinations;
make me answer correctly
and guide my hands to write what is expected of me.

Make me pass at the end of the year
so that my parents and all those
who helped me study may be pleased.

Our Lady, do not let me learn or practise wrong
or reprehensible things in or out of class
from bad company or books,
magazines or electronic media.

Amen.

All-holy Father, eternal God, in your goodness
you prepared a royal throne for your Wisdom
in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary;
bathe your Church in the radiance of your life-giving Word,
that, pressing forward on its pilgrim way
in the light of your truth,
it may come to the joy
of a perfect knowledge of your love.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
