Novena To Saint Cyril of Alexandria

Repeat the following Novena prayers every day for 9 consecutive days.

Prayer by Saint Cyril of Alexandria

Mother of God

Hail, Mary, Mother of God,
venerable treasure of the whole universe,
lamp that is never extinguished, crown of virginity,
support of the true faith, indestructible temple,
dwelling of Him whom no place can contain,
O Mother and Virgin.
Through you, all the holy Gospels call blessed
the One who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hail, Mother of God.
You enclosed under your heart the infinite God
whom no space can contain.
Through you the Most Holy Trinity is adored and glorified,
the priceless cross is venerated throughout the universe.
Through you, the heavens rejoice,
and the angels and archangels are filled with gladness.
Through you, the demons are banished,
and the tempter fell from heaven.
Through you, the fallen human race is admitted to heaven.

Hail, Mother of God.
Through you, kings rule,
and the only-begotten Son of God has become a star of light
to those who were sitting in darkness
and in the shadow of death.

Amen.

O God, Who made the Bishop Saint Cyril of Alexandria
an invincible champion of the divine motherhood
of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
grant, we pray, that we,
who believe she is truly the Mother of God,
may be saved through the Incarnation of Christ You Son,
Who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Ghost,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Remember, O Almighty Father, the moment when,
in accordance with your will,
the “fullness of time” arrived for these peoples and nations.
When these holy Missionaries,
Saints Cyril and Methodius,
faithfully fulfilled the command that your Son, Jesus Christ,
has entrusted to His Apostles;
following in their footsteps,
they brought into the lands inhabited by the Slavs
the light of the Gospel, the Catholic Faith.

O Lord, grant our personal requests,
(mention in silence your personal need)
and through this Novena,
may we built upon the faith of many
of our immigrant families from Czechoslovakia,
pray with Venerable John Paul II,
the Pope of Slav origin,
and receive your graces and favors.

Through the intercession of Saints Cyril and Methodius,
may God grant that we of many ancestries,
may continue the work of Christ through His Church,
in our lives, our families and all peoples
and may we have strength to overcome all hatred
and to conquer all evil with good.
