Novena To Saint Christina of Mirabilis (The Astonishing)
Repeat the following Novena prayers every day for 9 consecutive days.
Saint Christina, you lived a life of poverty
and loneliness in the eyes of others.
But you knew that in the eyes of God,
you were wealthy and had His love
and the companionship of saints and angels.
Help us to see beyond the things of the world
and to realize we are never alone with God
and that we are surrounded by a “great cloud
of witnesses that have gone before us.”
Pray that we remember to offer up our sufferings
for those who do not see beyond the material
and who are seeking love and fulfillment,
that they may come to know God
and realize that they are never alone.
Amen.
O Venerable Christina,
You appeared as a shining dove,
With a pair of golden wings
Alighting in the Highest Heavens.
Therefore we celebrate your glorious feast
And bow before the place that holds your relics.
Pray that we may receive grace
and healing for body and soul.
Amen.
Holy Christina, patron saint of lunacy and bad behavior,
of revulsion and nausea and flight,
of women’s disorders and accusation,
Patron saint of perchers in treetops,
Of the burned and the drowned and the despised,
Of public torment and wailing and queerness and stench,
Patron saint of dogs’ fangs and scorn, of false death,
Christina Mirabilis, the Impossible, the Alone and Apart,
Christina the Astonishing, my sister, I entreat you.
